Victory Christian School was founded in 1977 as a ministry of Victory Baptist Church. The primary purpose of Victory Christian School is to partner with families as they strive to train their children to conform to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29), and to pursue God’s calling for their lives.
The curriculum selected for use at Victory has a proven track record of excellence, and emphasizes Biblical philosophy and strong academics. Our classes are college preparatory. Graduation requirements from Victory meet or exceed the academic requirements for the sixteen member institutions of the University of North Carolina.
Our school adheres to guidelines and standards set forth by the North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education. VCS also maintains membership and affiliation with the North Carolina Christian School Association and the American Association of Christian Schools.
VCS teachers are experienced and qualified. Through the use of traditional, teacher-directed methods, the lower elementary classes emphasize mastery of the foundational reading, writing, and mathematics skills. The upper grades continue to build upon those skills. Students are challenged to examine this world through the lens of Scripture. They are encouraged to communicate, both verbally and through written expression. High school students begin to accumulate credits toward a high school diploma. Class formats include mainly teacher-led with some video classes, as well as dual-credit options for juniors and seniors.
Our school also participates in interscholastic sports with the Blue Ridge Conference, composed of several area Christian schools. We currently offer ladies volleyball, and we have basketball teams for both men and ladies, with the hope of adding soccer in the 2014-2015 year. Other opportunities for student participation include private piano, sewing, and art lessons, drama, yearbook production, and field trips.
